MAIA S2 and MAIA WV are innovative multispectral cameras with 9 bands similar to those of the Sentinel-2 or WorldView-2 satellites. Optimized to operate on civilian drones in precision agriculture and environmental monitoring applications, they are truly at the forefront of innovation. They consist of a matrix of 9 image sensors with a resolution of 1.2Mpix, each dedicated to detecting a specific band in the visible spectrum (VIS) and near-infrared (NIR) region, in a range from 395 to 950nm.
The option to configure MAIA in WV or S2 modes, with spectral bands aligned to those of the WorldView-2 and Sentinel-2 satellites respectively, makes the camera ideal for the most advanced precision agriculture and environmental monitoring applications, where ground resolution and data quality are critical parameters.
MAIA S2 and MAIA WV can operate autonomously or be connected to an external GNSS receiver to synchronize image capture and georeference images. Thanks to global shutter sensors, synchronized acquisition, and factory‑calibrated lenses, images are free from motion artifacts and suitable for photogrammetric processing.
The ILS incoming light sensor (optional) enables radiometric correction of data, providing consistent results over time and under varying cloud cover and solar irradiance conditions.
The MultiCam Pro software for data preprocessing is included in the MAIA package: it allows you to generate a multi-layer image from each capture containing all the bands aligned with single-pixel accuracy. With MultiCam Pro, you can also quickly calculate both standard agronomic indices (NDVI, NDRE, GNDVI, SAVI, etc.) and user-defined indices. Images can be exported in TIFF format for further analysis with third-party software.
MAIA S2 and MAIA WV are the right choice for those seeking cutting-edge innovation in agriculture. They offer:
- improved monitoring of crop health and growth
- early detection of crop diseases or nutrient deficiencies
- optimization of pesticide and fertilizer application
- yield estimation and calculation of agronomic indices (NDVI, NDRE, GNDVI, SAVI, etc.)
MAIA is manufactured in Italy and developed in collaboration with Sal Engineering and the 3DOM research unit of the Bruno Kessler Foundation (FBK). For more detailed information, download the technical datasheet and visit the Spectralcam website dedicated to this product line.
